Fabric Care 101: Washing Linen, Silk & Velvet
Keep fine fabrics beautiful with fiber-specific washing, drying, and pressing guidance.

Linen loves water
Wash linen cold and tumble low — it softens with every wash. Skip the bleach; a cup of white vinegar in the rinse keeps colors clear.
Silk wants gentleness
Hand wash silk charmeuse in cool water with a gentle detergent, or dry clean. Never wring — roll in a towel to press out water.
Velvet keeps its nap with steam
Brush cotton velvet with the nap, steam from the reverse side, and store rolled rather than folded to avoid crush marks.
